a beautiful face

Shhhh it’s a secret

Confessions of a chick who’s tried all the DIYs because she can’t afford every hot new product that hits the shelves. I’m about to share with you my top 3 beauty secrets. Ready?

Face Oils

Stop, don’t do that. Don’t do that thing where you shake your head because you saw the word “oil” in a beauty article. Oils are our friends! A good facial oil will help your skin look and feel better. They contain vitamins and minerals that replenish and revitalize the skin. Gently tap a few drops of oil around the face and neck, you’ll see instant results. Oil is easily absorbed and can actually help reduce inflammation.

Try these:

Radha Beauty Rosehip Oil

ArtNaturals USDA Certified Organic Jojoba Oil

Amaki Certified Organic Essential Oils for Face, Hair & Nails

Warm Water

Have you ever thought about water as a beauty staple? Warm water is one of the best kept beauty secrets. Though most prefer to quench their thirst with cold water, warm water is actually a much healthier and more productive alternative. Studies have shown that drinking warm to hot water will boost your metabolism and encourage weight loss. Hot water also helps to break down adipose tissue (fat). Warm water detoxifies the body and improves digestive function. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will help to rid your body of toxins, and will improve your skin.

Body Showers

Excluding your hair. Stop washing your hair every day. I know that people have different types of hair and different hair styles, but this is what works for me. I wash my hair every 2 or 3 days. Why? Because over-washing our hair is damaging, and strips the hair of natural oils. When we wash our hair too frequently it becomes drier and more prone to breakage. I personally color my hair, and I know that the best way to preserve the tone is to wash my hair less. Ever since I stopped washing my hair daily I notice that my hair is shinier and I have less split ends. You’ll actually have less greasy hair the more you keep up this infrequent hair washing routine. Not at first, but with time you’ll notice a difference.

There you have it…

My needs and wants have of course influenced my more specific beauty choices, but these 3 beauty tips can work for anybody. I personally have sensitive, combination skin, light brown eyes and blonde hair. When I do purchase beauty products I look for ones with few ingredients and multiple purposes. Oils, water and infrequent hair washing are more powerful than they appear. If you use ‘em right they can change your life. These are my best kept secrets and now they’re yours too.
