PSL season is approaching!! Basic b*****s rejoice!

As excited as we are for sweater weather, I know that many of us are tearing up at the thought of storing away our favorite summer outfits. We can totally make some of our summer clothing fall friendly, but not all of it…

For those of you that are scratching your heads wondering what the heck I mean by, “not all of it…” Check out this list of DONTs to bear in mind during your summer to fall wardrobe transition:

Sundress scaries…

Sundresses are so cute and wonderful. They’re a perfect go-to for warm, sunny days and maybe even casual summer nights… you know what they’re not so great for? The fall. Those chilly days when leaves are falling and the wind is blowing… probably not the best time to whip out your floral print halter dress. I know, I know, you have so many cute sundresses that you want to wear all year round. Ugh for your sake, I’m telling you not to. Some dresses are just not versatile. Stop trying to make fetch happen.

How do you avoid this issue? I always try to buy dresses that aren’t too beachy or too summer-specific. Look for dresses that pair well with tights and a sweater, those are the pieces that will serve you year round.

More. TOES.

Once it hits 60 degrees I want those sandals locked up for the season. First of all, if the good lord wanted us to wear sandals with sweaters and scarves, why on earth would she (the lord) bless us with adorable booties? And besides, the sooner you put those toes away, the sooner you can stop dishing dollars on weekly pedicures.

I know a few cool gals who can rock the ruffled ankle socks with heeled sandals. If that’s you, more power to you… But hey, booties are a great transition shoe and they’re perfect for fall. Grab yourself a pair!

Absolutely adore these:

Crop top chaos

Oh crop tops, what on earth are we going to do with you… This is a perfect example of a trend that just doesn’t work for everybody… Just to clarify, I’m not talking about body shaming, I’m talking about outfit shaming. There’s a way to wear a crop top (sort of), and there are about a bajillion ways not to. Crop tops are a summer favorite because they’re half the size of a regular shirt. And it’s okay (sort of), because we’re going to the beach, to the pool, we’re wearing high-wasted skirts and shorts.

Ehhhem, what on earth are you going to do with all those crop tops come jean season? I know what you’re not going to do. Do not be that person who wears a crop top with low or midrise jeans once it hits 60 degrees outside. First of all you’ll be cold, but more importantly, it ain’t cute! You might be able to get away with the crop top and high-waisted pants/skirt look. Dare I even recommend that… Throw on a jacket or sweater if you make that choice. But come on, the main point I’m trying to make here is that belly buttons are not for the fall. I know that was harsh… you’re welcome.

If it doesn’t spark joy in you…

Throw out your summer junk. Wardrobe transition drama is worsened by closet clutter. If you have clothing items that fit any of the following categories, then for the love of gumdrops start putting a donation bag together: Clothing with holes, pulled threads, stretched out, shrunken, overused, underused, faded, stained…

Once you get rid of the junk, you’ll be able to see what you really have, and that’ll make a huge improvement in your ability to get dressed in the morning. That goes for winter, spring, summer and fall.

Here, I’ll get ya started:
